(7604) Kridsadaporn ดาวเคราะห์น้อยชื่อไทยดวงแรก

วันนี้ขอนำเสนอดาวเคราะห์น้อยที่มีชื่อไทยดวงแรกจากทั้งหมด 9 ดวง* (ข้อมูลล่าสุดในปี 2015) ครับ ดาวเคราะห์น้อย (7604) Kridsadaporn ถูกค้นพบเมื่อวันที่ 31 สิงหาคม ค.ศ. 1995 จากกล้องโทรทรรศน์ขนาด 0.5 เมตร ของหอดูดาว Siding Spring ประเทศออสเตรเลีย โดย คุณ Robert H. McNaught ภายใต้โครงการ Siding Spring Survey (SSS) และมีชื่อรหัส 1995 QY2

หลังจากนั้นในเดือนเมษายน ค.ศ. 2005 เมื่อผลการคำนวนวงโคจรไม่มีความคลาดเคลื่อนแล้ว ดาวเคราะห์น้อย 1995 QY2 ได้รับการตั้งชื่อจากผู้ค้นพบ Robert H. McNaught โดยให้เกียรติกับคุณ Kridsadaporn (San) Ritsmitchai ชาวไทย ซึ่งเป็นเพื่อนสมัยเรียนที่ Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Australian National University และยังเป็นเพื่อนร่วมงานกันที่หอดูดาว Siding Spring ประเทศออสเตรเลียอีกด้วย

(7604) Kridsadaporn จัดเป็นดาวเคราะห์น้อยใกล้โลก (Near Earth Asteroid; NEA) ซึ่งมีวงโคจรตัดกับวงโคจรของดาวอังคาร (Mars-crossing Obit) และด้วยความรีของวงโคจรซึ่งใกล้เคียงกับดาวหางที่อยู่ในกลุ่ม Jupiter-family จึงสันนิษฐานว่าอาจเป็นดาวเคราะห์น้อยที่มีแหล่งกำเนิดมาจาก แถบวงแหวนดาวเคราะห์น้อย (Asteroid Belt) ซึ่งอยู่ระหว่างดาวอังคารและดาวพฤหัสบดี

(7604) Kridsadaporn มีคาบการโคจรรอบดวงอาทิตย์ ทุกๆ 5.49 ปี ขณะที่ถ่ายภาพนี้ ดาวเคราะห์น้อยอยู่ห่างจากโลกของเราประมาณ 3.2 AU มีความสว่างประมาณ 18.9 เมกนิจูด และกำลังมีความสว่างเพิ่มมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ จะถึง 15 เมกนิจูด ในช่วงกลางปีหน้าครับ
